I pisanje bloga je neki književni žanr - sa svojim zakonitostima

Kultura / Culture - IGOR MAROJEVIĆ
Književnik, urednik izdavačke kuće Laguna / Writer, Editor of the "Laguna" publishing house

Also writing a blog is a literary genre with its own laws

Given that we talk with Marojević, we can immediately move on to our main reason to make this interview. In May, “Laguna” publishers will publish the third part of the story book “Belgrade Women” (Beograđanke). It consists of two cycles, one in which the heroines of the story are Belgrade women with ages between 15 and 45, who live in Belgrade. That part is called “Philosophy for Everyone”. The characters of the second cycle, called “The Gift Shop”, are our fellow citizens, who have emigrated. The topics arediverse, often dictated by the moment in which we live.It is a story about mobbing, school mistreatment among girls, the conflict over games on social networks, tolerance towards machismo, undervaluation of intellectual work, motherhood of a child with autism, lesbianism, emigration, sorting things out abroad and dealing with pornography, which is kept alive through the internet as a substitute for outdoor life ... - our collocutor said at the beginning of our conversation.

Do some stories have a happy ending?

It seems to me that the list of topics suggests that in “Belgrade Women” the reality of the 21st century is presented without embellishment. Most of the story has a happy ending, but it is not mechanically designed in neither part of the story, because that would mislead the reader. Instead, some stories offer the organic possibility of a happy ending in difficult conditions. In the end, all the stories are written from the standpoint of the heroine and her ideas and it surely contains that famous feminine way of writing.

Explain the differences between the masculine and feminine way of writing?

In less socially defined circumstances such as transitions, we are dealing with the collision of at least two different systems. The new system has not been established yet, but we can still observe recurrences of the old one everywhere. In everyday life, such circumstances impose the uncertainty of stable points of view and therefore it is wise to resort to intuition, to which women are more inclined than men. That is why; I thoughtthat writing about modernity from several feminine points of view would offer more possibilities than doing from a masculine standpoint. For instance, in the novels “Šnit” and “Žega”, I write about war from a masculine point of view, i.e. from the perspective of the physically stronger sex. Now, in order to create a feminine point of view, it is necessary to know women and I can immodestly say that I know them to certain extent. Some men have occasionally written a story or part of a novel from such a point of view, but for me it was very challenging to write an entire book in that way.

Can we consider bloggers as failed writers or journalists? A ctually, what do you think of this form of writing and how do they manage to convince people to give them a “Like”? By doing what?

In “Belgrade Women” there is a story called “The Grey Kit” about an unsuccessful writer who became blogger. It is true that part of the bloggers are recruited among literary people, no matter that they are successful or failed. Otherwise, I do not think that bloggers should necessarily be unsuccessful writers or journalists. It is a literary genre with its own laws. Of course, in a poor society it always happens that a bunch of people realize that writing is literally the cheapest form of creation and as far as investments are concerned, you just need a computer and that is all. That is why; we are dealing with a situation, where anyone can be recognized as a blogger and, besides that, where we should talk about writers and many people who feel as such. Many people give “Likes” to that first category, because they write directly. Life on social networks is increasingly taking root because social networks are not expensive and offer a convincing illusion of dynamism.
